Information About the Great Outdoors
Coping with challenges is for some the hardest task to manage on their sustainable homestead. There always seems to be something that has to be done or mended.
The best way to implement technology to fit your needs is to study existing natural processes used by people in similar situations. The next step is to adapt the natural technology to your needs. The last and most important step in the process it to let others know any improvements you have made and to the technology and documents any findings or discoveries you have made.

Simply beautiful.

The careful management of our world is paramount to the future of mankind on earth.
Sweat equity* - Doing the work yourself and reaping the rewards from
that work. It is a very fulfilling way to pinch pennies and gives you a
sense of accomplishment.
The homestead manager has many portals to create monetary wealth. The use of natural crafts and bush craft are two methods of creating capital for the homestead. The homesteader may decide to make natural crafts such as Weaving or patchwork quilting, make soap or candles, Tanning and leather work, make jewelery or any number of natural skills. The homesteader may also decide to try selling his bush craft. Bush craft differs from natural crafts in that bush craft is what the craftsman makes out of necessity with basic materials. The final implement when made usually has a very crude appearance. For example. The tool used to strip the tallow from the hide for tanning is an example of a bush craft tool if it is made from a tree branch, The same tool made from dimension lumber with hand tools it is considered a natural craft tool. The tanning itself is a natural craft if the final product has a measured and exacting appearance, it is bush craft if it looks somewhat crude. The Items that a bush craftsman can make for profit include bush craft knives, tent stakes, leather products, wooden/stone tools, and art.
With the use of technology the modern homesteader can create all the the comforts of a modern home without resorting to buying any outside energy. The modern homesteader has the option of using wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and many other natural means to create electricity for their modern homestead.
Heat can be achieved much easier with wood than it ever was in the past. Wood stoves sold in many states after 1996 are extremely efficient compared to older models. The homesteader can also use many other sources of heat including heat from a methane digester.
A methane digester takes wast that will decompose and turns it into a flammable gas through the process of anaerobic decomposition. This form of decomposition is much like aerobic decomposition (the average compost heap) but takes place without the presence of oxygen.
